LIGHTLAND: A SOUL'S JOURNEY by Kenny Kemp

It is the end of the world. A new, deadly disease -- the Cobalt virus -- is spreading across the planet. Millions of people are dying; no one is immune. Scientists frantically scramble to discover a cure, but none is in sight.
Then, a remarkable mummy is discovered in Africa. Tests confirm the impossible: not only is the DNA intact, it is also immune to Cobalt. In a last, desperate attempt to save humanity, scientists prepare to clone the mummy in hopes that this new person will be immune to the deadly virus and thus be the key to mankind's survival.
Meanwhile, the spirit of the man whose mummy holds so much promise is dwelling in the afterife -- Lightland. And when the cloning succeeds, his soul is wrenched from Lightland and thrust back into mortality, reborn into a familiar body, but into an unfamiliar, modern world. He has no memory of his past and cannot even remember his own name. But the veil is thin and he soon realizes that to be reunited with his loved ones in Lightland, he must first fulfill his destiny here on earth. He is joined on his quest by two skeptical scientists who are compelled by haunting dreams -- and against their own better judgment -- to believe in the existence of the soul. They are pursued by those who see him as mankind's last hope, and those who help him as traitors; ruthless people who will stop at nothing to prevent him from reaching his goal. His name is K'tanu and he has two pasts . . . but only one future.

DAD WAS A CARPENTER: A FATHER, A SON, AND THE BLUEPRINTS FOR A MEANINGFUL LIFE by Kenny Kemp

"As I stood there in the garage, I remembered that piece of plywood through all its evolutions, from the moment Dad picked it out at the lumberyard until the moment I found myself holding the last slice of it thirty years later.
"As I felt its substance, it began to dawn on me: Dad really was gone, and with him his ability to see something new and useful inside something old and worn. To him, a piece of polywood wasn't just lumber: it was a travel box, a bunk bed, a train set platform, a dresser.
"I had shared most of my life with this piece of wood as shaped by my father's hands. It had joined me on an unforgettable family vacation. I had worn the paint off the ladder climbing up to sleep in a bed made from it. I had played trains on it. I had placed my clothing in its drawers. Now at last I held a remnant of it, the craftsman's hands finally still and the wood at reast, no longer to be cut and nailed, sanded and painted.
"My father was dead, but as I began to clean out his stuffed-to-the-gills garage, I was about to learn an astonishing secret about him . . . and about myself."

Grand Prize winner in the International Self-Published Book Awards.
